My impression is that it was a Tolkienesque high fantasy setting (Medieval-ish). I recall many aerial scenes (probably shot from a helicopter) showing the group hiking across mountainous terrain with heroic background music. I recall one of the characters having a long brown cape that flapped in the wind. As the series went on, more characters joined the group. I have the impression that the final episode was in a cave, with lots of sparkly magic.
