Fun example of film editing I find effective & enjoyable:
A tiny little thing I really enjoy in Superman is when Hawkgirl drops Ghurkos & before he goes splat the film cuts to Steve Lombard dropping a fizzing tablet in a glass of water.
It's one of those nice editing moments where we change scenes but the motion from the last shot still pays off.
It's pretty common. Hardly a James Gunnism, just a fun, popular technique, but I laugh every time.
