🤬 reading a book mentioning how Einstein "received a letter from a young colleague, Karl Schwarzschild... who in a few months would lose his life at the Eastern Front."
Schwarzschild was 6 years older than Einstein, a professor since 1901 & director of the Potsdam observatory. Also, he did not die at the front (as a consequence, yes, but not at).
You can bet my trust in the book overall is now close to zero (i really wanted to like it, it's written by a colleague, another physicist) 🙄
