It's bad logic. The one thing doesn't follow from the other.
The mere presence of Republican voters doesn't tell you *anything* about what Democratic voters want.
You can't just say "it's a 'purple' state so left-wing candidates can't win," because that is conflating separate things.
I don't know what will happen in the general election. Literally nobody does. I can tell you though: Democrats need Democratic voters to like the candidate. Republicans won't be voting for them.
