US Attorney's Office for Connecticut seized over $600k in crypto from a scheme targeting Ledger hardware wallet users. Victims received fake "Ledger Security & Compliance" letters in Sep 2025, prompting a "mandatory security check" that remotely compromised their wallets. One victim lost ~$234k.
FBI & state police traced funds, leading to the seizure of ~$600k in USDT. A civil forfeiture lawsuit has been filed for wire fraud & money laundering. Attackers are increasingly using mail, fake branding, & QR codes for phishing hardware wallet users.
