Well, I didn't actually notice that overhead, but as I've already explained, it is impossible to avoid. Not even Apple and Microsoft can avoid it [1], and they have complete control over their platforms whereas we do not.
Vulnerabilities are non-awesome and Flatpak package maintainers should do a better job with that, but I don't see how Flatpak itself is the problem there.
