If you search for related cbc articles, you will find plenty that correctly report what happened. They seized what they could by getting the keys and moving the funds and blacklisted addresses on platforms that were obligated through FINTRAC.
Any misinformation reported by the CBC would have been accidental. The police know that Bitcoin donations cannot be seized if not on exchanges.
Truthfully, the trucker protest was peaceful. Businesses supported, police were respectful and citizens admired those who participated. There were Canadians against it too. Unfortunately, the leadership in the government failed us by using dirty tactics to disband the protest.
These are things that we should not forget:
- Mass spreading of misinformation
- Freezing of bank accounts
- Unfair prosecution of participants
- Unfair treatment of supporters
- No apology or remorse for what they did
It is proof that any country will turn on its citizens when threatened.
