I come from a Catholic family. We used to go to church every Sunday.

One issue I had when I was Christian was that I was constantly scared of hell. I couldn't convince myself that Jesus died on the cross for my sins.

I was looking for answers in the Bible but I was finding contradictions that made me uncertain about my own salvation.

I reached a very low point where my last option was to submit to God and ask him directly for forgiveness. I prostrated and I asked God to forgive me and to guide me. I wasn't aware at the time that Muslims prostrated in prayer. It only felt natural. It was the first time that I felt goosebumps when praying. It was intense.

A few years ago, when I was tweeting about the genocide in Gaza, I got in touch with a lot of Muslims. Someone told me that I could simply read the Quran.

It honestly is not like the Bible. Also, I didn't convert until I had started reciting some of the Quran in Arabic.

One reason is that you can't translate the Quran. All translations are someone's interpretation.

My beliefs really aren't very different than when I was a Christian. I don't believe in the trinity. I believe Jesus is the Messiah and the son of virgin Mary. I don't believe he is the son of God.
