I read a good analogy recently — a political party in a democracy is like public transportation. The rail, metro and bus will bring you within walking distance, but they do not bring you precisely to your home. It does not make sense not to use public transportation because of this. It does not make sense not to vote because a party is not fully congruent with all of your positions. No political system can do that.
