If your goal is to move across a border with your wealth intact, then privacy is a very natural critical feature. It's better that only you know how much wealth you have, and one of those is better at helping you achieve and maintain that than the other.
This is digital money. It's easy to exchange Monero for other digital money including Bitcoin whenever, unless you're moving hundreds of millions of course. "Most liquid and most in use" isn't actually necessary for your desired use case.
