There's talk of the radio club I'm in moving to using Google Meet for meetings instead of Zoom as the latter is getting too expensive.
Part of the deal may be Google Drive / Calendar. Could be a good thing, but I'll be insisting that we have a back-up system so that if we do get cut off, we can swing something else into action at a moment's notice.
We have a NextCloud instance (that I host) but that's in bad need of a rebuild because it's an instance that started out as OwnCloud 6 and got progressively updated repeatedly… something's gone pear shaped in the migrations and now some users are locked out. I can take an off-line back-up, push the data to Google Drive, grant people access there, then work to re-build the instance and get it mirroring the Google Drive content.
Thus my thinking is a hybrid model: use cloud services, but have a sovereign-hosted warm back-up.
