It does seriously damage Couey's reputation that he worked for CHD. Even though Couey now pretends to be opposed to CHD, he might still be getting funded covertly by similar channels that fund CHD. What he says is so nonsensical that I have a hard time accepting that he sincerely believes what he says, but if he is paid to lie to people then it would explain his behavior.
In 2024 CHD caught flak when they posted a video where Ana Mihalcea said that blinking lights she saw under a microscope were nanobots, but in response to the critics, CHD said that Mihalcea's claims were backed by Lissa Johnson's presentation during the Omniwar symposium.
