The numbers aren't smear, see source [1]. If you actually defend these numbers, of which I'm sure not all degrowthers do, the logical consequence is a radical lowering of the living standard. There's no way around that.
Whenever I ask people for specifics, I get vague stuff. Like "we'll cut on the ad industry" or whatever. As if that's gonna cut it. I'm all for energy efficiency and public services, but the movement needs a serious jolt of energy realism or it is going to be part of the problem, not the solution, by de facto arguing for reactionary politics.
