With ads and algos and massive participation from naturally conservative audiences and a shunning of it by respected journalists and the left. Early Twitter without ads or algos made it possible for lots of ideas to gain traction that corporate media ignored, like the Arab Spring. Preventing the sharing of info and organizing by those hurt by the wealthy, and fostering political division among them, is why #Elon bought it.
