I reckon he's considering "expert" to mean, in this instance, someone who knows about the economics of it but also the mathematics, things like how it was constructed, with things like POW, difficulty adjustments etc. He probably understands the economic aspect perfectly, but wouldn't use that as a reason to call himself an expert overall.
