this is true, but the problem we have across society is often its only those with "nothing to lose" (such as the homeless, who are likely to get nicked anyway due to not having verifiable address details) who could afford to spend time in custody like this.
I've seen what happens to small businesses when their key staff end up in jail, it happens fairly often in my area due to folk committing drugs offences even violent crimes.
They just go out of business and some other company takes over their market share, and in a capitalist society with businesses constantly competing with each other its often overlooked unless you regularly read crime news.
