Yeah, this is for grid scale power producers who already produce more than is being used during the day and sometimes having shortfalls at night.

If a power company is saying curtailment is more economical than storing the excess energy and selling it later, I want to be able to cite them.

The only things I can think of is the capital expenditure is more than they can afford, or that the scarcity at night keeps rates higher or something like this. That'd be a broad definition of what is "economical" (I'd call it "unaffordable" instead unless the batteries vost more than they were expected to bring in over their lifetime).

Whatever the case turns out to be, I want to understand the details and have someone whose livelihood depends on understanding these details to back me up.
