News: The Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC 2026) kicked off in Hawaii. Former Air Force Deputy Commander Chang Yan-ting noted that while the simulated adversary is clearly mainland China, the U.S. military's true objective is validating its "coalition warfare" capabilities.
Rather than acting alone, the U.S. is integrating its allies into a multi-layered command structure, turning the drills into both a military test and a collective political statement.
My opinion: Oh nice, a "Rim of the Pacific" exercise without Taiwan. As far as "allies" go, Taiwan doesn't even make the cut.
