i looked up the original blog post. that data came from google analytics, and it’s “over 100k visits” within a 12-month period.
also several ISPs have PoPs located in that area so the hits they saw on the GA dashboard didn’t necessarily come from that base but from customers in the area served by those PoPs (which can be very large)
