I wanted to give the shells a try. I went with noctalia, iirc that was the name. I it's pretty neat. I spent quite a bit of time configuring my own shell with programs here and there, for notifications, app launcher, custom blocks on the i3 bar, input methods... etc. niri and noctalia have all of those things built in out of the box. It was crazy I had nothing to configure to have the same experience I crafted myself over the years. That's a pretty big selling point. That said, if I were to try wayland again I'd try sway+noctalia. They seem to be compatible and I'm just too used to i3 at this point. I'm becoming a grumpy old man...
