Of course I am; it’s a reasonably decent explanation for why hard civilizational collapse scenarios tend to be quite rare - so they usually progress imperceptibly on the scale of decades, and only appear disastrous in retrospect.
In the case of The West, it’s been dead since 2008. The GFC is now about eighteen years old. Since we’ve had what amounts to an entire childhood to look back, the signs of it are very clear. While certain local trend-bucking does happen, the overall picture is one of steady civilizational decay.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge is never being rebuilt.
