He's never struck me as an "actor's director", & that's my preference in a filmmaker.

I like directors who really help the actors shape & envision their characters so that their performances are dynamic & true-to-life (at least "true-to-life" within the world of the film.

Films that look cool but aren't anchored in dynamic performances from actors who inhabit & breathe life into the film don't do it for me. In my experience Nolan is not good at getting those kinds of performances in his films.
