merge mining doesn't seem to hold up technically though. you get a little faster, but not the 3+ orders of magnitude necessary to scale to billions of people making everyday transactions. volume can also easily be manipulated through wash trading, so i'm not sure we can even say that stablecoins are doing better than bitcoin
