Work has been heavy lately.
Not just patients this time.
Clinic operations, management decisions, building partnerships with a few organizations.
The kind of work that doesn't end when the clinic closes for the day.
And in the middle of all that, I'm packing for Labuan Bajo again.
A medical mission trip, August 5th to 14th.
I went there last year too, a different village that time.
This year it's a new one, somewhere I haven't been to yet.
Ten days away from the clinic, away from a routine that already feels overwhelming.
Part of me wonders if this is bad timing.
Wouldn't it make more sense to rest instead. To catch up. To slow down first.
But every time I think that, I remember why I started doing this in the first place.
Nobody ever has the perfect amount of time or energy to serve others.
If I wait until I feel fully ready, fully rested, fully caught up, I don't think that day ever actually comes.
So instead of waiting for space to appear, I'm making it.
Rearranging schedules. Saying no to a few things so I can say yes to this.
It's not glamorous. It's just a decision, made quietly, in the middle of an exhausting week.
I don't know exactly what this village will look like yet.
But I know there will be patients waiting there too, the same way they were waiting in Tetaf, in North Pene, in Lakat, in Labuan Bajo last year.
Somewhere between eight hundred and one thousand people, from what I've been told.
Tired or not, I intend to show up.
Because some things matter more than being at your best.
Showing up itself is already the point. 🟠
