I'm in denial and I'm staying there. This has always been a problem with having relentless growth, you reach a point where productivity is so high that you can't find enough consumption to justify the production. We arguably passed that point in the developed world some way back and have been propping the whole thing up with massive waste and overconsumption. JK Galbraith was writing about this 60 years ago.
