Part of the reasons I love old books is that they are really imagination-stimulating.
Last night, I read about how snake butchers used to catch snakes in parts of Egypt, the whole process of killing them, then pickling different parts of the snakes and even making soup from them, etc. It gives me chills to read about it (it must be really scary to be there!), but it's also fascinating to learn how people used to use different parts of the snake to cure different illnesses.
