There are Lasius ants and Prolasius
Formica ... and proformica...
What is the meaning of making a new genus and putting "pro" in front of it?
Is is short for "proto" and these are similar to the genus of the same name, but with some traits that are more basal? Does it mean that they have "gone pro" and they are better at being a Lasius ant or a Formica ant than their cousins?
