On August 16, 1993, Ian Murdock announced the creation of a new GNU/Linux distribution: Debian.
Thirty-three years later, it’s hard to gauge its influence on modern computing.

Today, Debian is a distribution known for its stability, its community-driven model, and its commitment to free software.
But above all, it is the technical foundation of an entire ecosystem.
Ubuntu, Kali Linux, Raspberry Pi OS, Proxmox VE, and many other distributions are based directly or historically on Debian.

And behind the scenes, Debian is, of course, found on a vast number of servers, VMs, containers, and infrastructure systems.
