The odd thing about unions is that they're supposedly such a great idea, and yet many of them happily use force of law to make people either join them, or deny them their right to work in the field.
Which means either A. unions aren't actually that good for their members or B. their members are too stupid to understand that they're a good deal, and have to be coerced at gunpoint.
VOLUNTARY #unions? Go for it, all day long. FORCED unions? Pure authoritarianism.
