I disagree. Pay per view is too expensive, especially when we're talking about a complete season of sporting events that last for multiple months. The #PAC12Network failed for this reason to some extent.
I think an a-la-carte future is more likely than a pay-per-view future. In the context of #CFB, the "big four" companies own pretty much all of the broadcast rights to games, and all of them except for #FOXSports have their own services (although not all the games are on them).
