The US looks to be heading towards a form of military control as, in the face of challenges to his attempt to put troops on the streets in some states, the Tangerine Tyrant is considering invoking the US' Insurrection Act (1807) to bypass legal restrictions on his military deployments.
Perhaps the key lesson here is how quickly the states can be turned against its population even in democracies.... and that's is a state with (seemingly) strong constitutional safeguards.
