That's great for you, but 99% of people (even tech savvy people) aren't going to go through the effort of managing a lightning node. Covenants can drastically improve a wide range self custodial scaling solutions including Ark.

It's really not like Ark nor covenants are being rushed. Yes there are multiple ways to do covenants, but after all these years, no one can reach agreement on one. It's not an issue of taking more time to see which is better, t's the culture now stuck in stasis unable to make any progress whatsoever.

The narrative that taproot was rushed is another bullshit line that's helping keep Bitcoin in this completely static place. And it's very clear what newly influential stakeholders like Michael Saylor want (for Bitcoin to not be p2p money) and how that's playing out right now.

I see absolutely nothing on the horizon, no developments whatsoever, that indicate people are suddenly going to be OK with one covenants solution over another. I would bet a lot of money Bitcoin won't have covenants in the next 3 years and that people will be saying the same things you're saying now.

It's important to recognize this clear issue and not be dismissive of a slow boiling frog problem here. If Bitcoin ossifies, it leaves the door open for Monero to get things right. But ultimately the world will be worse off with a shittier Bitcoin.
