When you buy goods for resale, they don’t get expensed immediately (Instead, they’re added to inventory—a line on your balance sheet)

When you sell those goods, inventory only becomes an expense (called Cost of Goods Sold)

This prevents businesses from inflating losses by expensing everything upfront
