What makes you think they will leave bitcoin? There are plenty alternative as is.
I’m actually more worried that nationstate will take this moment in time when the chain is completely empty to attack. As lame as the hoped spam is, it perversely provides a defense against utxo spam attacks which are a far bigger threat than having to buy a bigger hard drive.
