And if they don't, then clearly they want to be enslaved, right? Because why would they let themselves be enslaved? They should just choose not to be a slave. Since they don't do EVERYTHING to get back their freedom, they're complicit in their own slavery. No better than the slavers, really!
See the problem with that kind of thinking? When people get aware of their enslavement, it doesn't do shit. When they get the power to end their enslavement, it does. Awareness is part of that power, but expecting slaves to take terrible risks without that power, expecting them to shrug off the yolk of slavery when it's being pushed on them by military force, not everyone can do that. No one deserves to be a slave, even someone who's afraid to fight for their freedom. They need the *power* to fight.
