my impression is that they were aware of the likely consequences, and were prepared to live with them...
that said, name calling remains childish and ineffective, not to mention fallacious and deceitful... that it's the kind of tactics that both Mr. Trump (e.g. "deranged" and "lunatics") and Mr. Netanyahu (e.g. "antisemites" and "terrorists") frequently resort to should constitute enough of a warning against stooping down there...
