Probably because they can't fathom anyone who doesn't share their addiction. I think eventually the desirable mates and employees will be those who DON'T use that shit. I don't sit on my phone in the rare instances we get slow at work. I start looking for problems to solve or in the worst case work on something I'm learning or a relevant skill. Almost all of my coworkers just scroll socials like zombies. It's a weird thing to want from someone when you think about it. The fuck value is there in sitting on Linkedin all day? Seems like a place for the unproductive class.
