ابو مريم on Nostr: I know most folks on here don't know Eco (SAIF theorist) and I can't say I really ...

I know most folks on here don't know Eco (SAIF theorist) and I can't say I really know him either considering any personal exchange has been minimal. That said, I wanted to share this recent post to bridge that gap some for nostr folks:

Most theorist of hypermodernity claim that art is dead. I think what Eco is playing at here with the issue of where we are at with our collective understanding of consciousness in light of approaching AGI makes sense.

I remember back in uni I had a performance art prof once tell me "you are doing everything right but it just won't work because you don't understand what it truly means to love." There is an element in art that must be intuitive - an unconscious/subconscious (whatever you want to call it). Art is sublime. It is dynamic and transformative. Those that say "art is dead" are really saying we have moved so far as a species that collectively we no longer find value and meaning in art. We perform but do not acheive and the goalpost is always progressing.

It's so boring we doomscroll...

I'll be honest, all of this makes me more bullish on an Islamic future as we move into this age of AI. I read these signs as humanity is desprately looking for meaning, meaning which can only be found in Allah.

Your art isn't going to art until you face Allah and you're not in front of the lote tree.

The fact that more humans are aware of this isn't problematic. Could be very good? And certainly doesn't mean they shouldn't try.

Anyhow, I'm a dad now. I'm way less critical and definitely culturally out of touch. I'm totally cool with that too. 😹
"we're bringing Eco to nostr one way or another"
