A lot of sloppy thinking going on right now. Of course we are in a lot of pain after the Coldcard disaster. But pain does not justify friendly fire. No. Every influencer that promoted ColdCard was not complicit in the entropy defects. We are all only as good as the information upon which we rely. The criticisms I'm seeing fall into one of two general lines of reasoning:

1. Every influencer touting Coldcard as a secure device is accountable because they SHOULD HAVE KNOWN about the vulnerability, and not to know represents some sort of dereliction of duty or worse: outright corruption.

OR

2. Only those knowledgeable about code/software development should have been qualified to give HWW recommendations. So not knowing is not an excuse.

I take issue with these points because the ENTIRE bitcoin experience is the self-taught common man learning and teaching other self-taught common men. Wisdom acquired in this way is by definition hard-earned -- at times painful and others fatal. But this is the only way to out maneuver an ever-evolving adversary (the State). Do not seek advice from others without the courage to sustain whatever path that advice leads you down. Otherwise lean on your own understanding.

If we only relied on pure technologists to purvey knowledge in the bitcoin space, many audiences would be unreachable. We need all voices participating. We were all fooled. Some of us were accountable only to ourselves. Some of us took it upon ourselves to bring others along by sharing what we believed (erroneously) to be best practice. This has produced painful tradeoffs; namely, propogating flawed knowledge. This is tragic. But the alternative world is NOT better. We must be willing to strive and to lift one another.

We will endure.
We will adapt.
Or we will die.
