Did you know? Before Tor, cypherpunks were already using anonymous remailers in the 1990s to hide who was talking to whom. The point was bigger than secrecy: if every message exposes your social graph, power can map your life even when the content is innocent. Those remailers were clunky, slow and easy to mock, but they proved a radical idea — privacy tools do not need permission to become politically important. If metadata tells the real story, what does freedom mean without ways to break that trail?
