My vision of the future of programming is that C, C++, Rust, Python, Swift, Javascript, Haskell, and so on and so on, they're dead dead dead, and we're all coding in a relational/logic programming dialect. All low level optimization & platform support happens in compiler development. The language offers gradually more complex hinting declarations.
How do programmers reason about performance? Most of the time, they shouldn't have to. If performance is bad, it's the compiler devs' fault.
