Бабушка (nprofile…8c2f) a brief (extremely instructional) story about a friend's father during the vietnam war:
This man, we'll call him Bob, had watched his friends drafted one at a time, some of them came back in body bags, and some of them had tried sundry dodges, like showing up in dresses and whatnot, and being summarily dispatched as cannon fodder for the aspirations of politicans regardless.
When his number came up, he arrived in best form, got his military haircut, and found himself in boot camp.
As they neared the end of basic, he managed to get in a fist-fight with one of the idiots in the platoon over something incredibly stupid. The kind of thing that exasperated the sergeant and while they were out on a day pass, he was assigned to clean the latrines.
When the men returned from their pass and assembled, Bob wasn't present.
After a brief search, they found him in the sparkling clean latrines, kneeling by a toilet and licking shit off the seat.
Very soon after, he was discharged as nuts.
... except that it wasn't shit. He'd managed to squirrel away peanuts, raisins, and some chocolate whatnot, mixed it together, and smeared it on the freshly cleaned seat to be caught licking it up.
Moral of the story: you can avoid dying for the aspirations of politicans by eating chocolate in a strange manner.
Put this under your hat and share the story with anyone who might find themselves with a draft notice.
