According to Greek historian Herodotus, the Persians believed that intoxication & sobriety revealed two different, but equally necessary, types of truth.
The Rule: A decision was only finalized if it was approved in both states. If they started the discussion sober, they were required to reconsider it while drunk, and vice versa.
