In Belgium they will (rightfully) pull you from traffic if you're riding motorcycle without full "protective" clothing.
Mandatory by law here:
- high boots (ankle must be inside boot)
- long trousers (any will do, unfortunately)
- long sleeves (same remark as above)
- gloves (not plastic)
- helmet
Which makes motorcycle less interesting than car for short distances: takes too long to suit up vs get in & drive off.
But decent protective clothing isn't luxury.
