i fully agree but there is in the short term no practical alternative i am afraid, besides for a very small niche of principled, tech aware people (with rooted phones etc), Android and iOS will remain the dominant platforms. So meanwhile we have to make use of apps on those platforms as good as possible with regard to data sharing with those big tech companies, appy regulatory pressure etc.
Digital sovereignty is not binary.
