I doubt Europe wants a nuclear war, even Russia despite threatening to use such weapons understands its game over at that point. I can't read your friend's mind, he probably knows more about the debt problem we are all facing but I find it far-fetched to choose nuclear war to balance a budget. Europe is waking up with a massive hangover and in that confusion trying to make sense of this changing geopolitical landscape. I know they would rather not have a war with Russia but there are very few good options available now, war will come to Europe and Ukraine has been keeping it out for 4 years now, with blood sweat and tears. European leaders need to grow a spine now.
