It's worth noting that Trump's actions at this point do not really point toward a disciplined fascist takeover -- his clown car of incompetent appointments makes this seem rather clear -- but rather, a vast chaos that could be extraordinarily damaging in a different sort of way. As we move beyond the bounds of historical precedents for the U.S., all manner of chaotic situations unknown here to date -- but not uncommon in other routinely less stable countries over the years -- are increasingly possible.
