School is forced association, not socialization.
The 'friends' you make there are relationships forged out of necessity and coping mechanisms in order to get through the ordeal.
Spending most of the day in forced quiet and expected to listen intently to the adult in the room is hardly a 'social setting'.
When we look at the definitions of the word 'Socialize', which kind of 'socialization' can we assume a state run institution is trying to provide for the child?
socialize:
- intransitive verb
1. To place under government or group ownership or control.
"socialized medical care."
2. To cause to accept or behave in accordance with social norms or expectations.
"techniques to socialize aggressive children."
3. To take part in social activities.
"likes to socialize with people her age."
- transitive verb
1.To render social.
2. To subject to, or regulate by, socialism.
- verb
1. To interact with others.
2. To instruct, usually subconsciously, in the etiquette of a society.
3. To take into collective or governmental ownership.
