You're giving too much credit to Muslim Scholars. We're in a sad state as Muslims where our scholars are barely reasonable or knowledgeable in world matters or science or even the Qur'an and prophetic tradition the Islamic sources themselves because they usually rely on their sects/schools of accumulated opinions of their scholars of old and basically regurgitate that without much reason ans if they learn reason and logic it is to defend and do mental gymnastics for their schools/sects and accumulated compound ignorance opinions.
