Actually, it's how he releases everything from my experience. PixelFed was the exact same way.
As much as I hate to be so critical of things, the app is complete trash right now and really not very usable at all. It's so basic. Post a video that you edit prior to putting it into Loops itself. Not how it should be done. There's literally no basic features.
When I worked for Nova, we would be completely embarrassed to release something like this. In fact, we simply would NOT do it, ever!
